news

Hello
alot has happened since the last update, again. Life in Plymouth is rosey and will be getting better in the next couple of weeks. Living with roxy is fun, im working in a big hotel at the moment but i am due to start another job with a design company at the end of the month - http://www.bluestone360.co.uk weeeeee! i cant wait, im so excited at the prospect of mixing with people who love the things i love again. I feel inspired to start a project, i really want to get back in to drawing again, after my final major the fun got sucked out of it but i can feel it coming back, which is reassuring. Life feels empty when i stop getting exciting about design.

I went to the dentist the other day for the first time in 8 years, all i can say is that it wasnt good news, to quote the dentist 'the treatment is quite aggressive and we'll need to knock you out' at which point i burst in to tears in front of 2 people id never met before. So i have to go get my wisdom teeth out and have some other stuff done at the end of this month. gay.

Plymouth

This may come as a shock but i am now living in plymouth, i decided exeter wasn't the place for me, i know i know i was only there for a couple months but the opportunity arose to move and i grabbed it with both hands. Im not sitting around waiting for life to come to me any more. Im now living with My friend Roxanne and her daughter Jersey.

In other news i pulled a muscle in my neck this morning and im walking around like my heads just been glued back on and its not dry yet. ouch. Also i fixed up the wireless at roxys after hours of extreme frustration. As usual it was a simple answer to a problem that compares to a giant black hole.

Never. Drinking. Again

Last week was slow and stressful, so to cheer myself up i went to plymouth, and lets just say it was messy. oh god and i wish id gotten the train home instead of the 100 year old wobbly double decker bus they decided to put on. I really thought i was going to chuck up, i was at the point where you salivate and look frantically around for something to do it in. The bus was full of old dodgery daytrippers wearing copious amounts of avon perfume complaining about the windows being open on a day where it felt something like 100 degrees. but i laid down on the seat and listened to joanna newsome's soothing words and drifted off into a light headed nap and the urge to vomit went away.

possibly the worst plymouth hangover yet.

Home time

SO everything is over at uni and im now living in Exeter, ive been here for 4 weeks and 3 weeks ago i moved in to a charming flat. All i need to do now is make some more friends and get some more work. Easier said then done.

Somebody asked me if i miss london and the answer is definetly NO. I miss the girls club flat and lauren, but hopefully i will be going to Paree soon to see her. We should be getting our results soon, im not exactly sure when, todays date and tomorrow have been floating around on the grape vine. But we shall see. Commence nail bitting and perfuse sweating.

I went to plymouth last weekend and the weekend before to see Roxanne (my good friend from school) we went out on the barbican, drank silly amounts of alcohol and laughed about all the stupid things we did when we were younger.

In other news i have a new super machine computer, the giant screen makes me squint and go in to a bit of a trance when i work. ha ha ouch.

If anybody would like to throw some work my way then please do, web, print, what ever.

I really should take some time and make this blog look pretty. urr

Moving

check out this amazing Live Honda advert on tv.

need i say more?

I am now in the process of packing up all my shit, and there seems to be more than i expected. My ability to hoard sometimes astounds me. But im being brutal and the grannies at the chislehurst churches together charity shop wont know what hit them.

Dad and the gang are coming tomorrow, we are having dr shepardo pie, i dont think dad has ever experienced anything that i have cooked because he never lets me do anything, oh wait.. i think he let me put some fish fingers in the oven once oh and i made gravy one or two times. yum yum

Laurens mummy is coming on monday to visit too so that'll be nice, we can initiate her in to the girls glub. That sounds far more sinister than it really is.

Tuesday promises an exhilarating day of sitting in the studio waiting all day for an external examiner who may or may not want to slag off your final work and expect you to talk your way out of a shit grade. DS ahoy.

Must get back, so much to do before tomorrow

Fin

Yesterday was the day that i finished absolutely everything that needs to be done for the hand in tomorrow. I cant describe the feeling of being finished with something that ive wanted to be over for 3 years. Its a strange empty feeling, but empty in a good way.

Next week when i move will mark the beginning of a new chapter, im not sure what lays ahead of me but for now i will be staying with dad and ann at the yurt, learning to drive, finding a job and generally enjoying the summer. And at some point i'll be going to paris to visit lauren and co.

I should start packing and organizing

Owls

Here are the latest editions to the tattoo club.

Mines the one on the left on the top of the wrist and the other unidentified arm is lauren. You may be wondering why we have the exact same one but it is merely to commemorate our time here together, she is moving to lovely Paris and so we wont be seeing as much of each other. A bit sappy maybe but nice all the same.

It has been faux summer here for about a week now and i have been living in a cotton dress to avoid dripping with sweat at the slightest movement.

This morning i finished the typeface i have been working on and will now begin the illustrations and book layouts. I decided to take the rest of the day off today and so we had a BBQ in the back garden, which i might add is looking very charming. I ate 2 big burgers, one was pork and apple and the other Aberdeen angus beef. Then i had a few glasses of wine and half snoozed in the shade for a while, then came and napped, dreaming of giant wasps and the sunshine.

Until next time.

Long time no post

Hello. Today it feels very summery so i feel it only fair that i update my blog.
Things are going well in girl land and we are now making our preparations to move out. in less than a month i will be finally leaving london, the end of my degree. its so strange to think that the thing i have been complaining about for 3 years will actually be over. I have no real plan as yet, at the moment im going to move to devon, get a flat and float around for a while, the next thing i need to do is get my driving license and a car. oh and also a job.

Talking of jobs, i have a fresh portfolio of work online now. http://www.hannahstorie.co.uk/

Right now i am working on a type design project based around birdlife. Im slowly getting through it all but its taking along time. I'll be also doing some illustration to go with it.

Feast is to the East

I have moved house, finally i have escaped the hairy and greezy* non enjoyable dump. I am now living in girl land in chislehurst, with lauren. Things are light and sunny and clean and foody, i find myself wondering why the hell i didn't make the effort and move out of my misery sooner. So things are looking up, hugely.

I have also given up smoking; using the excuse of living in a non smoking flat and not wanting to go outside in my pajamas, but mainly i think a change in my habits. I cant say i am feeling any huge benefits so far (its been 2 weeks ish), ive not had many huge cravings either, apart from last night when i couldn't sleep, i would usually have had a big fag and a cup of tea. Oh and when i drink red wine, thats when i miss having one. But it seems its not alcohol in general, sloe gin and apple juice doesnt seem to give me the craving, i think thats because it tastes more like summery juice.

In the absence of a TV i have been using 4OD quite alot, i think for the most part its a really good service, the only downside is that its not available for mac, why they couldnt have done the same thing as BBC IPlayer i dont know.

I'll be picking up my contact lenses on Wednesday, they had to be especially made for my weird eyes. I have to have a lesson in putting them in and taking care of them.

I'll be going to devon for a bit of an easter break in a couple of weeks, with early spring like weather im hoping the yurt will be less ice boxy. Not that i mind that much anyway.

God, i have a formative assessment this morning - for a project i have only just started thinking about, by this point your supposed to have physical things to show, not just an airy fairy wavy handy type idea.

*Greezy - The same as greasy, but pronounced with a 'eez' gives a more greasy effect.

long time no read

i havent updated for a while, i have no excuse really. Not been up to anything terribly exciting. Mainly working, both college and paid. Im thinking about getting contact lenses, but im not sure. Im afraid i will rub my eye and it will get pushed in to my brain or something. Glasses are annoying, especially on the bike. And when you walk in to a warm place and its cold outside they steam up and its embarrassing.

Im craving steak and chips, i couldnt be asked going out so i had eggs for dinner.

I have 2 and half weeks left before my easter break, a month off... AND THEN its the last term! weeee, god i cant wait to finish, i am literally shaking with excitment. At the moment i plan to move back to exeter and save some money.

My brother ryan applied to go gladiators! haha i hope he gets on, if he does me and lauren are making t shirts with his head on, oh and we get to wear the giant foam hands. The only thing im a bit dubious about is seeing him in the, er.. revealing outfits.

Christmas gayness

Dear all
Ive been in devon for my christmas break. It wasnt much of a christmas, more like a bunch of long drawn out days with not that much to do. True to my luck i managed to get the flu and mostly felt like i was slowly dying of the plague. i found myself trapped at my mums house sniffing my way through christmas day, i had originally planned to go to the yurt and spend it there. i was doomed with no christmas dinner as mum had made plans to go elsewhere for the day, but then jim came over with a christmas dinner wrapped in tin foil for me :)

Before i got the flu i spent alot of time at dads yurt which was fun for a while, it was freezing in the mornings with no fire and just canvas, a sleeping bag and a blanket between me and the elements. but when the fire got going i soon defrosted and even took off one of the 10 jumpers i was wearing. the olive oil, the milk and tarkas drinking water would be frozen some mornings

Ryan and jess came down for a night which was nice, here is ryan looking intimidated by the giant quiche we ate -

Other activities included walking, shopping, eating, sleeping and playing with mums cat lemmy.

New years eve was spent at the talaton inn with jim, mike and his lovely french girlfriend elody. We drank and were merry.

Here is me acting like a hobbit

Here is some funny writing we found in exeter

Lemmy enjoying his bath

This van belongs to the train man at feniton station, its a viva. ONLY the most desirable vehicle known to man, or maybe just me, either way i want one now.

Ben climbing a tree in cathedral green with mike looking on in awe, shortly after a man with a beard and a hat got inspired and climbed the tree also

Im back in london now, its really cold in the flat and im waiting for lauren to get back so we can slag off our christmases and various other things together

Please send help

Ok im doing a typography project based around and phonetics and regional accents within the UK, i need to use some generic copy for each chosen accent. I was thinking of using a quote that sums up the united kingdom as a whole, it doesn't have to be long, just a few lines, does anyone know any good ones? or anything else you might think would suit?
